Assignment 4: Seven deadly sins

This assignment was based on the principles of Christianity, the "Seven Deadly Sins". I thought to myself, what are the Seven Deadly Sins? Well, they're quite simple. In Christianity, the seven deadly sins include pride, envy, gluttony, lust, wrath, sloth and greed. These sins are transgressions to our human values. To clarify further, these sins have each of their own actions that can harm not only people but ourselves in ways.

Pride is the belief that they are the most valued without recognising other individual's worth. Envy is the feeling of desiring for people's traits, fortune, status, or any part of them that one may feel like they are inferior compared to what they have or what they are. Gluttony is the desire to consume more food than one has taken. Lust is one's desire to crave pleasure of a person's physical shape and traits. Wrath is the manifestation of anger of which one refuses to love generously and chooses to let the anger out on someone. Sloth is the physical and mental avoidance of physical or spiritual work. Last but not least, greed is the desire for more wealth and fortune than what one has, choosing to not appreciate for what has given to them.

For this assignment, we were required to make make a mind map to plan on how we designed our illustrations, some sketch noted based papers and a mark making paper. Finally, a booklet with each page representing one of the seven deadly sins and then putting our thoughts at the end of the booklet page. Before doing so, we researched on metaphors or symbols that represent a certain matter as what we were supposed to include in the booklet. We also did exercises; sequential art and weaving as suggested applications to the making of the booklet. I used watercolour pencils to paint with a pilot ink pen, acrylic and a correction pen.
