Assignment 1: Unconventional Portrait

My first 2D studies assignment given by Mr. Choy! The assignment required us to explore of one emotion that we could relate to and translate them in an unconventional portrait. This assignment was quite confusing to me and to the rest of my peers because we had no idea how we were supposed to start it. So, for the past three or four days after the class, we finally spoke about it in our group chat and we shared some of our own personal ideas for our own portraits to each other.

The tools that I used to make this were faber-castell watercolour pencils, a brush and a glass of water. As seen here, it shows myself looking in a direction pondering about the fears I have of life. The smoke is seen to be coming out of the word "fear" on the upper part of my shirt. You can also see a heart right next to the word to represent palpitations of the heart.
